Marcia
Swaby M.Sc. C. Psych Assoc. is registered in Ontario,
Alberta and England. Marcia Swaby has worked for thirty years in rural
and urban settings. This has increased her sensitivity to different
cultural, religious groups and ways of life. Her approach uses the
strengths of each client and their family to bring about change. She
has been trained in cognitive-behavioural therapy, and solution-focused
therapy ( a brief therapy approach). She has worked with clients who
have symptoms of stress, anxiety, depression, anger, pain and marital
difficulties. Marcia Swaby does assessments of adults. She uses hypnosis
as an adjunct to therapy as learning can be quicker in this state.
It is useful for pain management and control of habits. She is an
affiliate member of the Canadian Hypnosis Society since 1992.
Marcia Swaby did a Bachelor of Arts
Degree at McGill University, Montreal. She went to Birmingham University,
Birmingham England for her Masters in Clinical Psychology. She worked
in England for 3 years and then moved to Ontario. There she worked rurally
and then at Dellcrest Children’s Centre doing family therapy.
She moved to Mississauga Hospital, now Trillium Hospital and worked
in the psychology department with adults on medical floors. In Alberta,
Marcia worked rurally with Alberta Mental Health Services and developed
a Private Practice working with motor vehicle accident victims at a
dental clinic. This extended to chronic pain clients of all varieties.
